The Healthy Living Centre programme was launched in 1999 to tackle health and social inequalities in deprived communities across the UK.
Thriving Wellbeing and Healthy Living Centres, have activities and services that address what is generally considered contributory to underlying determinants of health and wellbeing; employment, environment, skills, food, equality, transport, social isolation, housing and mental health.
In January 2009, NHS Mid Essex commissioned Healthy Living Solutions to produce a consultation based costed delivery plan for a Healthy Living Centre in Melbourne, Chelmsford, one of the most deprived areas in the PCT area.
The report, delivered on time and within budget, is currently being considered by NHS Mid Essex. For more information on establishing Healthy Living and Wellbeing Centres please contact Sue Bayles, Director, HLS
